Back then I wasn't planning on making the site known to Buildism until we started advertising (and bringing in a huge flood of people), so making sure we didn't invite anyone that would do anything slightly non-productive was important. It doesn't mean that we don't like you, just that you weren't in the top 5 or so people that we decided to invite. This was going to be advertised heavily only a few weeks after those messages were posted, so we needed a limited number of people that were going to be focused on making stuff and nothing else.

So we weren't discussing who was going to be allowed in, just the "launch team" so to speak.
