That's because you don't have any anti-aliasing on. and/or based on your graphic settings.

However, I have bought the Minecraft 1.7.3 beta and everything works perfectly with dynamic lighting, however, I don't think having an old pirated version changes anything towards your connection.

Well, if you play it offline then it's probably just your video settings.

Well, it lags a bit. It runs at 24 fps and MC runs on the procesor, not the video card.
