It's really easy to solve...

You can't add 2 letters -.-

I don't see you thinking of an equation... -_-

x can be anything, y can be anything; which will each give the value of z

Yes, but you never said that. You said x = the letter x.

X and Y variable can be anything, and I'm pretty sure they don't have to add up to Z variable.

Of course it doesn't haven't to add up to the z variable...

a + b = c
x + y = z
w + w = w
------------

x + 2 = 56

What's x?

What the heck have they been teaching you?

Yes I said the the letter is equal to the letter x because x is representing a number, I'm not saying it is the letter x!

x = w
No!
x = x
Yes!

If w is defined, then x can = w

-1 to Franco
+1 to Kieron
Franco 4 - 5 Kieron

Unless defined, x can equal any number whatsoever.
y can equal any number whatsoever.
z can equal any number whatsoever.
w can equal any number whatsoever.

Without further information, the statement "x + y = z" has much more of a chance of being false than true.

RE: How about a random math debate? - Franco30557 - 05-10-2012

I just said that to Kiro...

Franco 5 - 5 Kieron

RE: How about a random math debate? - Qwertygiy - 05-10-2012

No... it's not what you said at all.

RE: How about a random math debate? - Franco30557 - 05-10-2012

I just said that x and y could be anything... >_>

RE: How about a random math debate? - Qwertygiy - 05-10-2012

You said:

x = x
y = y

In ANY programming language, you'd get an immediate error there.
