why not just have it show only the head?

Yeah. The shrinking on the body makes it harder to identify the person by just looking at their skin, so why not use the head so it will be a little bit easier?

But alot of people will be wearing the same head if they find a skin that suits there needs. Its like the 'newb' (lets call it that..) skin everywhere!

from all the skins on "skins page" i doubt that will be a problem.
