Essentially MingYanism comes from MingYan and MingYan means understanding grace. This would be translated to knowing what epic is. Due to this MingYanism means the belief or practice of knowing epicness.
Therefore, it is given in points to show the amount of epicness you have. It is not recorded and not always verbally graded due to it being practically impossible to track. Aside from that though, it plays a role in how you act.
EG. you post spam and I write "-2 Mingyanism Points", that is a warning saying you have become less epic.
It is true that most people have negative scores but that is just because not everyone can be "epic".
MingYanism points are given when someone posts something that amazing/win/ epic.
I don't think I will be grading any Mingyanism on this site, but ROBLOX needs A LOT of keeping in check.
