Personally, I think no one deserves to be a mod because there is no need for new mods nullifying the qualifications for a mod.
Plus everyone has only been here, what? A few months or so.

And I am assuming that you are talking about the new ones coming, not the current ones and the new ones. I would guess Jacob_ saw the need for new moderators, so he decided to pick some.
