I just used the paintbrush tool with "Use color from gradient" and "Apply jitter" enabled for both of them.

You could have just used paint.net random dots and then used primary and secondary colors or even grey scale and used like hue saturation or something. It would have taken less time and not of added the minor errors in the background of like the half circles.
