And it can also be sent from PM, don't lock it.
Having people answer on a forum is better for open discussion.

Plus a person only has a limited amount of space in their inbox.

It's the OP who want's responses, you don't really PM someone to ask them to PM you...especially if it is not targeted at a specific audience.

If a user asked something to the community we wouldn't lock it, Unless the user found is answer or asks for it to be locked.

If it's to another user then we have to lock it, we don't delete it.
