I know someone who - not sinks, not floats, but can sink to the MIDDLE of the pool in 10ft deep water, he'll go about 1 foot deep, criss-crossed (leg position) and he stays at 1 foot underwater. So, we watched him stay there for 6 minutes straight.

Real. I forgot his name, how does he stay at one foot? Usually, you sink! But he stays stable, and under there for 6 minutes straight without popping his head up in the same spot!
