If he can't handle it, then I do agree with you. Although, many users said it in hopes of demoting him for an open moderator position.

Actually, I disagree when talking to them they said they had no intention of being a mod. Rather they did not know what their goal was, however I assume it is either to try to make there be less moderators in general or to reform what they deem to be "bad mods".
