Free as in beer, but not as in speech.

Read this. All of it.

I think I read that somewhere a while ago.

But yes, it's true.

That's because he's posted it here before...

Free has so many definitions. You should use your common sense to know which definition. That's like saying "There are many tears in that paper." "Which definition of tears do you mean? Crying or ripped?"

I remember when I was installing a new video card on a Linux computer, a dialog opened that said "This driver is not free software. Do you want to continue installing it?"

My dad was watching, and he thought I had pirated a driver or something.

As in 'This Software isn't OPEN-SOURCE'

Sorry for the late bump; I forgot about this thread.

Yes, I have posted this before, and yes, it does have to do with being open-source.

It seems to me that many people are somewhat afraid of it, but it really isn't all that bad :o

RE: "Buildism is a completely free ..." - Duck - 07-31-2011

It kind of is that bad

Because it's your source code

So why should someone else have it when you don't want to give it out

RE: "Buildism is a completely free ..." - noob007 - 07-31-2011

You're talking about giving out your source code to public domain.

That's a completely different thing.

Open-source projects are copyrighted, and have licenses.
