How do you choose where to place a model from a file on your computer into the game?

I think you go in the game go to the top left corner and look donw to insert it in, i think..

Thanks, but I already now how to insert one, but when I do the model always goes to some random spot in the game. I was just wondering IF it is possible to control that.
