When i press the show/hide scripting console button nothing happens.Can someone give me and answer about whats wrong?

Update to the newest version of java, this may be the problem.

This may be a stupid question, but is the bottom half of your editor window off the screen or covered up by something? It should give you a text box that you can enter code in to execute.
