We had no power for 3 hours on Thursday, that was bad enough for me!

Yeah, Georgia Power took too long. It was just a short wind going like 75Mph.

That sucks.
The longest I've gone without power was about 1 day?

The longest I have ever gone without power is a whole summer. Yeah I was bored to death if that answers your question.

I've gone without power for max half an hour? And my mum's friend had to power cuts in a row for several hours over 2 days- when the power was back on the second day most of the electrical equipment (washing machine, skybox, wii, computer etc.) were broken!

When I was 6 or 7 we lucked out big time.
There was a huge ice storm, and a very, very large branch fell on our house and the power lines. (Our drainage system and porch roof were still bent when we moved out 3 years later.) Fortunately, the power line got pinned between the branch our mini-van, so we kept our power (but had no car) until the branch was cut away 3 months later.

Where I live it's usually surprisingly hot and humid. It's not a state someone would usually think of as very hot, like Florida or California or Arizona. However we've had pretty severe winters for a while now...
