Just like you'd copy any picture -- right-click and select "Copy".

I usually click "Save image as....(Whatever)" and save my edited skins as different copies so I can keep the original.

Right Click and save as (Buildism Skin Template.)

http://www.paint.net is a very good paint editor program that most if our users have and use, it's also free.
