I made a mine within my house, when I died about 5 times trying to get obsidian I got lucky and there were like 8 diamond blocks in a row under my house.

It wasn't even way below, I think it was at the most 10 blocks down. I don't think I was ANYWHERE close to bedrock.

I'm pretty sure diamonds can only generate below layer 17 ore something. Did you see my bad pun? It's actually a typo but I like it Rolleyes
