Don't worry about advertising

I'm planning on spending at least $500 on advertising this site, as soon as I get the money from Google (yes, seriously.) Posting on forums to advertise is usually frowned upon and might bring in the wrong kind of people.

I used to have my signature on the Minecraft Forums link to Buildism. As I usually stick to posting only in the Mods section there, the people who would be seeing it would mostly be modders or mod users, the kind of people who might be who we're looking for to make games. Should I do that for 2DWorlds or should I not bother?
