Well.

All I can say is, the Koreans must be stupider than the Soviets. The Soviets had a massive amount of land they could build missiles in and hide from retribution from if they decided to lose their cool and launch a nuke. North Korea's a pretty small country. The US has plenty of nuclear weapons left over from the Cold War. How much percentage of the States do you think it would be possible for North Korea to destroy? Maybe 0.01%? Granted, if that percent includes Washington or New York City, it's likely the worst disaster in history. But how much percentage of North Korea do you think the US could destroy if the absolute worst comes to absolute worst? I'm betting well over 50%.

And before you might counter-argue "What if they destroy all of our stored nuclear weapons, or the people who know how to deploy them?" [Un]fortunately, we have them in plenty of places, plenty of bases, many of which are top-secret.

And given that the UN is going against North Korea, it's not just the US they're dealing with. Russia and Britain and China, at least, all have various stages of nuclear development.

Launching a nuclear weapon is always a terribly stupid idea, but in this case, it would be completely horrendously stupid for North Korea.

There were people pretty worried over in California after the tsunami in Japan, because the radiation from the power plant was being carried that far from the disaster site.

There is still a large portion of central Western Asia that is unsafely irradiated from the aftermath of Chernobyl.

And those were highly-regulated power plant failures, not weapons of mass-destruction meant to unleash high amounts of radiation.

Like I said, launching a nuclear weapon is always a terrible, terrible, stupid idea. It's just an extra level of stupid for North Korea.

The largest nuke we have would only just be able to enclose all of Pyonyang with it's thermal radiation radius, but I doubt the wind would carry it as far as china or South Korea.

What I said does not deserve a rating of that sort. I'm pretty shure that manmade tsunamis and earthquakes can be made now in this day in age. If you think about it, nuclear warheads are outdated technology. Maybe all the major earthquakes and natural disasters the bible described in the book of Revelation could be caused by countries fighting a WW3.
