It is actually incorrect, 9 x 1/9 would equal 1. However, 1/9 [.9999] =/= 1/9 x 9 meaning that 0.9999 is not 1 unless rounded.
Plus it's wikipedia, you can't trust it.
Also it is inaccurate because it does not account for the numbers being infinite. 0.111 is not the same as 1/9 being 1/9 would be .1111111111... NOT .111.
The same with .999 it being rounded is what makes the .999 never equal 1.
So if actually done accounting for the infinite repeating numbers, it would be 1=1 not .999=1.
