Nostalgia - The Nintendo DSI

Recently I was informed that the Flipnote Hatena service will no longer be available for the DSI on March 31st. It was a website that could be accessed with a DSI where people could upload flipnotes made on their DSIs. Every single flipnote uploaded will be deleted. There is a new flipnote studio coming out for the 3DS, and will have its own Website like Hatena.

Why Nintendo? Deleting a website with the Flipnotes of hardworking people who put their hearts and souls into the site angers me and many others. I’m ok with Nintendo making a flipnotes 3D studio, but why can’t the two coexist on one site? For example, the DSI flipnotes and the 3D ones could be veiwed on the 3DS Hatena, and the DSIs could only view the DSI flipnotes on Hatena.

I really never used Hatena. In order to post comments and upload flipnotes, you had to print out a form online and mail it with a parent’s signature. So I was like, Screw this! Most of the flipnotes were Justin Beiber, anime and Super Mario crap, so I never really watched any.

Since I’m talking about a DSI app, I’ll talk about the DSI itself. The DSI was a revolutionary handheld system. Unlike its predecessors it could take pictures, it could visit web pages, it could play music, and it could download games from online. When it came out, it was a huge seller. All these features seamed incredible for the time period, because most of us didn’t own smart phones like we do today. I think the major reason why kids wanted the DSI was because it had an internet browser. Most parents didn’t know about this feature and kids were able to look at porn without their parents’ knowledge.
