Why do they even put steering wheels on nascar cars?

1 ) Brakes fail; always a problem on small tracks

2 ) Blow a tire; this can rip apart the sheet metal, sheet glass, and everything else in a 2-foot radius, like Denny Hamlin's car today

3 ) Throttle sticks; this usually results in a hard head-on collision and was responsible for the deaths of Kenny Irwin Jr. and Adam Petty 10 years ago

4 ) Engine blows; no matter what the reason it happens it kills the car

5 ) Run out of fuel; many races have been lost by this

6 ) The steering wheel sticks in one direction; see #3.
I have a simple solution for all of those deadly collisions.
Two mile an hour races.
They will be safe.
Exciting.
Thrilling.
Long Lasting.
Fun.
