Personally I don't really think it'll ever go beyond "wow what an awesome idea that would be". That's always been half the fun for me -- actually writing code is annoying and about as fun as smashing hornets nests. Yeah, once you're done, you have a cleaner house. But man, can those bugs sting. The real fun is thinking "What would happen if you do that instead of this?"
But who knows?
