Buildism Is Not A Copy Of Any Other Game
#1
I know it's unprofessional of me to make this a sticky, but I'm getting really tired of everyone spewing the same overused arguments without reading my responses to them.

1. The concept of an online game creation tool is hardly original.
There are several sites like this: Atmosphir, Sploder, ROBLOX, and Scratch are some examples, and I'm sure there are dozens of others that I don't know about because they don't get much publicity.

2. Our UI is not copied from any particular program; it's based on a UI style that has been used by many, many developers over many years.

And hey, at least I deviated from Visual Studio 2003 a tiny bit and put the navigator and property editor on the left!

3. The hierarchy structure we used is not copied from any particular program; it's been used by many, many developers over many years.

4. Lua is an open source language. That means that anyone that likes it can use it in their own program.
I chose Lua for Buildism because it is easy to learn and it runs faster than other comparable languages.

5. I don't control what the users do.
If they want to make Buildism like another game, I'll let them.

6. Some players from those games we "ripped off" play Buildism.
If it was an exact copy, why would they even bother coming to an unfinished game like this with hardly any users?

6. Why does it matter?
This guy is following me on Twitter, which I regularly use to post about Buildism updates. If he didn't like us, he would have told me by now.

From now on, anyone that starts yet another thread about the items described here will be banned without a second thought.

Jacob, IP ban all of the trolls. Because I think like half of them are the same person.

Well, that's interesting. Becaus the style of Buildism and Roblox are shockingly similar, and the owner played Roblox before coming here...

Yes, but I haven't played in almost 2 years.

I started making Buildism in December 2009 because I wanted to get better at Java and maybe have an active community some day... it had nothing to do with ROBLOX.

You haven't played in 2 years? Yet you started work, what, 2 years ago? Seems like it had a lot to do with Roblox.

Either the word you were looking for was hadn't, or your story doesn't hold up.

I quit in August 2009 because I found Minecraft. I learned Java because of Minecraft, and made a few Minecraft tools, then I decided to make Buildism.

It was related to Roblox, but very indirectly.

It's time you stop pretending the avatars aren't exactly the same. You had all the chance in the world to make it look like something else, it's a 2D shape for heaven's sake!

They support transparency, nothing's stopping you from making it look like whatever you want.

The only other option would be a non-humanoid character, which would be really weird and hard to animate.

But it doesn't have to be nonhumanoid. It could be more humanoid, like most games, or even less humanoid, like CB for instance. In any case, there would be many options other than copying the same exact shape of Roblox. That's my main problem with this site.
