It really is transparent. And it is a lot of manual work.

And how do you make skins transparent?

You need a semi transparent colour. And first you take out the part you want to make ghostly. Like Magic wand and turn it transparent. Then you fill it with semi transparent paint. So its still transparent. But has a colour tint.
