Is it cheaper to build a PC from scratch, or is it cheaper to buy one new?

Building from scratch is far cheaper. A computer that you buy for around 700 bucks you can easily build for around 400 bucks.

If you are going to make it a gaming rig be sure to get your hands on Batman: Arkham City, you won't regret it

I'll be definatly getting Arkham City.
Also, isnt it obvious this is a gaming rig. I mean, c'mon, why would I be getting a factory over-clocked 1024 mb video card if I'm not going to be using it to play games?

Update: I'll hopefully start assembling the whole thing in 3 days. I ordered a 2 TB Barracuda off Amazon today and the CPU should come on the same day. Still need to find a good monitor tho.

Saving 300 bucks isn't a really big deal in my opinion, because your typical person would rather have a computer pre-built.

You can build a second computer for that money... How can you seriously think that 300 dollars is not a big deal..?
