I have some questions about Steam.

It's free. But, you buy games from Steam, some are free.
You have to install it, but it's only like a few kilobytes.
It's more of a store/arcade place/social network

1.) Yes, it is free. But you need to purchase atleast one game in order to be able to add people/chat with others.

2.) Yes, you have to install it.

3.) You can chat with others, make groups, and make friends.

If you were to purchase a game, I'd recommend you buy Half-Life 2, or some other source game, like Counter-Strike: Source or Team Fortress 2.

How could you not have time? It's really quick to sign up, and it runs in the background, so you can do other stuff while using it. I'm sure you can't be that busy.
