I have a question...

Why is the MC server hosted on the website if MC has NOTHING TO DO WITH Buildism? Wouldn't it make more sense to host the MC server on Jacob_'s computer, and host MP on the site?

Just saying...

The MC server isn't up anymore, as far as I know... and hasn't been for a few months.

Didn't Jacob_ put down the MC server?

Still, why is it hosted on the site?

MP should, not MC.

IT ISN'T. It went down when Multiplayer went back up.

Also, with the way it is now, anybody who can port forward can host an MP server. And with the way the site's been recently, I don't really want a lot more memory on the official site server slowing things down more than they are already.

So Jacob_ took down the MC server and put the MP server back up?

The MC server hasn't been up for 4 months...

It's easier to host Minecraft than multiplayer on the server because of the way VPS's allocate memory. A single server uses 50MB of RAM on my computer, but it uses 300MB at minimum when hosted on buildism.net. Add that to the fact that Java is bad about holding on to memory that it doesn't need anymore, and it just makes a big mess... I tried it a few days ago and it took the website down until I fix it.

Can't you get 2 computers and host MC on one and MP on the other?

I don't play Minecraft anymore, so there's no point in me hosting a server for it.
