Deleting or locking?
#1
I see a few threads every once in a while that serve no real purpose (such as telling others to go on buildism chat, even though it's a day old). Now, those threads are usually locked, but wouldn't it be a better idea to delete them?

I am pretty sure there is no con to deleting threads like those, but most of the time they're locked =/

Gotta say, it is wierd- But maybe we lock them because they were TRYING to make a real point in the forum, but failed. SO we let them keep their post number instead of deleting it Smile That's my scenario anyways.

Locking threads is good for showing the thread author (and anyone else who reads it) that posting that kind of stuff isn't a good idea. After a thread has been locked for a day or two, move it to the archive:

But at the same time, if the poster is a spammer, only locking it instead of deleting it will keep the posters post count and continue posting nonsensical stuff. I suggest a delete on a thread there.
