Any websites that knowingly provide services to people in America fall under United States law. Now, I've never heard of Taringa, so it may be safe; but sites hosted in Britain that are used by many Americans must follow American code.
America is more Britain than Britain is more America.
But then again:
Website's hosted in America which break British laws can be viewed by Brit's with no penalty.
Britain isn't truly a monarchy... Queen Elizabeth is as much a figurehead as Emperor Hirohito.
