That's where you're wrong. The show has more than enough action to satisfy the average person.

Out of curiosity, define "action" in a ponie cartoon

It's like any other show.
It has it's conflicts.
Characters have their own unique personality.
Problems arise.
Things are done to help weaken or fix the conflict.

Then I belive it is one of those shows that implement morales like:

"Don't lie"
"Always share!"
"Don't cheat on a friend"
