When the strings broke in I was expecting drums to burst in instead... I wasn't expecting that genre of music, since I tend to make electronica, not orchestral. I doubt I could make strings and brass work as well for me as they seem to for you.
It sounds great, but the tempo shift at around 0:48 threw me off for a moment the first time I heard it, and it took a moment to unscramble the rest of the song in my mind. If I had written that, I probably would have put a resonating cymbal ride there, or some other transitional effect. But then, I tend to do that about twice in every song I write, so I may use that kind of thing too much
Also, the melody is awesome, and the choice of instruments works very well with it, but the bass and brass sound just the slightest bit... I don't know a good word for it. Unrealistic? Like a keyboard? Nothing awful or anything, and I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't notice; I've just got a very perfectionist mind when it comes to music.
Oh, and one more question. Are you still using LMMS? If so, what are you using for the piano in the beginning? I can't seem to get a good realistic-sounding one.
