Free has so many definitions. You should use your common sense to know which definition. That's like saying "There are many tears in that paper." "Which definition of tears do you mean? Crying or ripped?"

I remember when I was installing a new video card on a Linux computer, a dialog opened that said "This driver is not free software. Do you want to continue installing it?"
My dad was watching, and he thought I had pirated a driver or something.

Yes, I have posted this before, and yes, it does have to do with being open-source. It seems to me that many people are somewhat afraid of it, but it really isn't all that bad :o

Because it's your source code So why should someone else have it when you don't want to give it out

You're talking about giving out your source code to public domain.
That's a completely different thing. Open-source projects are copyrighted, and have licenses. |
