  Contest: rectangle intersection
Posted by: noob007 - 06-18-2012, 01:00 AM - Forum: Programming - Replies (6)

In this contest the contestants will submit a function that takes two (axis-aligned) rectangle objects as parameters and returns whether they intersect or not.

The rectangle object may be defined as either two points, or one point (the center) and the width and height.

On my computer, I will construct benchmarks by creating lots of random rectangles and testing if they intersect using each contestant's method. Whichever method takes the least amount of time wins.

Your method/function may be in any programming language you want. Of course I need to be able to run it on my computer so don't use imaginary languages or ones whose runtimes are otherwise unobtainable.

In the end I will submit my own method too.

The contest will end whenever enough entries have been submitted. Get started!

Warning: It's pretty messy and doesn't follow conventions. If you make anything interesting, post it and I might add it to the game!

Wink A little bet me and Franco are having...
Posted by: Fat_Sacks - 06-17-2012, 07:12 PM - Forum: Contests & Competitions - Replies (15)

So me and Franco have made a bet in the chat where he has to make a MLP-themed song that is at least half as good as Eurobeat. It needs to have at least one reference to the show, a melody, or a Franco-drawn background picture. Here are the stakes, if I lose and what Franco makes is as good as I want it to be, Franco will get ~700 bits and a custom skin by me, if I win and what Franco makes is total poop, then he has to sit through five episodes of MLP that I have picked.

It's so quiet and empty here recently.

I mean, everything except the chat, of course.

The chat is more like a demolition derby. A bunch of people running around and occasionally crashing into each other violently, knocking one out for a while before a long period of people just kinda sitting around doing nothing.

We need some sort of inspiration to keep posting and game-making...

So I give you this random fractal generator thingy!

  Famous Last Words
Posted by: Dignity - 06-16-2012, 02:45 AM - Forum: Forum Games - Replies (4)

This is how the game is payed.
The best person has to say famous last words like I love lasts a imaginary dragon
The next person has to say what happened after those words. It's has to go along with the words.

I'll start.

I know that's an imaginary dragon!

  Dear Buildism,

Take. A. God. Damned. Opinion.

Can't this community go a week without someone posting their own opinion on something, without it turning into an argument for some bullshit reason!?

Franco posted his opinion, and it looks like you all just backed his opinion up despite disagreeing.

Good luck surviving in the world -.-

  Just close Buildism already

All that happens is engagements on the chat, drama on the site.
And when that isn't happening, its dead.

There's really no point in wasting your money, Jacob_.

  Search on Clans

I find it annoying to have to go through pages and pages of clans to find the I want.
Search by clan name or abbr. pl0x?
