  Reset button or History button for places
Posted by: Domino - 07-08-2011, 07:06 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (5)

The title explains most of it, the thing is that I want this is because you might of made something but then accidently ruined it and saved. I thought of this because I wanted the starter level back on one of my places but I remembered I didn't need it.

  Stop Reporting PAs
Posted by: Ming-Yan - 07-08-2011, 07:01 PM - Forum: The Community - Replies (15)

Not only do they not fit the guidelines of a Personal Attack, but someone cannot be in trouble for one comment.

The rules specifically say EXCESSIVE flaming/personal attacks. Unless it is a flame war, it is a false report and nothing will be done.

  Help with Generating Terrain using a tool.
Posted by: Login - 07-08-2011, 06:55 PM - Forum: Scripting - Replies (7)

The function to make terrain generate (you have to put terrain and place it somewhere first) then you paste this command into the Scripting Console: game.Terrain:generate()

If you would, could you make a tool that when you left click, the terrain does exactly what it would in scripting console?

Thanks in advance!

  Reason For Inactivity: Please Read If you want to know.
Posted by: Xray - 07-08-2011, 06:48 PM - Forum: The Community - Replies (3)

For the last couple of weeks it has been stressful for me at school and home, at school we are doing are end of year tests, so for 6 periods a day i do tests.
Some can get quite frustrating.
And Because i have just reinstalled my computer to Ubuntu 10.10 for some apparent reason.
therefore i have lost all my skins, Sadly, And i would like to suggest that the Owners of the skin could re-download it as the Skin it is?

I am also Upset i didn't get mod >,< But better luck Next Time.

Hope i am a Skin mod :3

  Buildism fan blog
Posted by: Duck - 07-08-2011, 06:37 PM - Forum: The Community - Replies (3)

I thought I would start up a buildism fan blog on Tumblr

I'll try to post daily, with game development, tips & tricks and I'll probably explain the patches. I'll be happy to feature things by other people on request if the blog becomes popular on buildism and I hope you read it!

Star Does anyone actually need to use sleep() in an event handler?
Posted by: Jacob__mybb_import1 - 07-08-2011, 06:26 PM - Forum: Scripting - Replies (6)

Disabling sleep() in events would solve a whole lot of issues and confusing things about scripting (having to use gameConfusedcheduleTask() when creating a model from an event handler, for example), but I don't want to do it anyone needs it.

If you just need to disable a tool for an amount of time after a player uses it, using os.time() works just as well. This is the way Buildism and most other games handle this type of thing internally--using sleep() adds an extra thread that does nothing.

[lua]lastClickTime = os.time()
function mouseDown()
if os.time() - lastClickTime < 3 then return end --3 seconds
[...]
lastClickTime = os.time()
end[/lua]

  Locking threads
Posted by: Jacob__mybb_import1 - 07-08-2011, 05:23 PM - Forum: Moderator Discussion - Replies (1)

When you lock a thread, make sure you post the reason why you are locking it first if it isn't extremely obvious. Also, don't archive threads right after they get locked--wait a few hours first. This will make sure the author of the thread and anyone reading it will understand why it got locked.

Thanks!
