  The Story of Jacob_
Posted by: Jacob__mybb_import1 - 04-21-2011, 08:44 PM - Forum: 2DWorlds Discussion - Replies (6)

I know nobody wants to read all of this, but I'm bored, so I'll write it anyway!

My life on the internet started in early 2006, when I found a small community called the Game Creation Forum. We used a program called Stagecast Creator, which I had gotten in 2003, but I didn't know about its community until 3 years later.

I wasn't great at making games, but during the spring and summer, the founder of the forum decided to start a free web hosting company. A few weeks before the release, he showed us the web-based file manager he had created. It was very rudimentary, and I showed him how it could be abused to edit or delete any file on the server. So, I decided to learn PHP (my first programming language), and I made my own file manager that worked much better than his.

Then the site opened, and I worked as a moderator, answering support questions and looking for rule-breaking accounts. I got promoted to "junior administrator" on my birthday in 2007, and gained more access to the server (most of this job consisted of typing "sudo chmod -Rf 777 /home/zendurl/public_html/a/account" repeatedly, but that's another story.)

In early 2008 the web host became unprofitable, so we had to shut it down. I continued to work on my own site where I distributed free PHP scripts, but I always found writing scripts to be tedious and a little boring.

I became more active on a website called Sodaplay, a game where you could construct models out of masses and springs. It started to get boring, but in August 2009 one of the members discovered a new indie game called Minecraft. I quickly got addicted to it, and learned Java, hoping to make some Minecraft tools. I started hosting a Minecraft Capture the Flag server, which is still up today.

In late December I came up with the idea for Buildism, and I wrote the first line of code on December 30th. I kept working on it through May, but I got demotivated due to all of the bugs.

Last summer, I wrote a 2D Minecraft clone called CubicRealms for fun and to get experience with procedural world generation.

I started working on Buildism again in September; I threw away all of the old code and started over. After several months, we had gained 1,000 users! In April 2011, I wrote a post detailing my Internet adventures on the Buildism forums.

EDIT: Writing this post just reminded me of something... yes, I was immature once too.

  Ashley has been unactive lately.
Posted by: Login - 04-21-2011, 07:59 PM - Forum: Moderator Discussion - Replies (13)

Her last login was a short visit. Over a week, she has not been here. Either
a) she's on vacation
or
b) got into a different site.

either is possible, but considering her age, I really do believe it might be b). She might be bored/too boring for her age.

Sorry, Ashley if you think I mean in any way to say something bad towards you, but I'm just trying to see if you're still here!

[Login's Blog] The Story of Login
Posted by: Login - 04-21-2011, 07:52 PM - Forum: 2DWorlds Discussion - Replies (4)

Note: Okay, so this was going to be titled "The Legend of Login" but "legend" often indicates something huge that someone who is now *dead* did.

Hio, I'm Login. I originated from a different site. I'll go ahead and tell my site adventures. I started out on Kongregate.com, I believe. I played games very often. During July, until the end of summer break, I was helping others. I was helping others at the site www.answers.yahoo.com. I was on level 2 (a very hard level to get to, takes forever) before I quit. During helping others, I renamed myself "Computer Programmer" as I answered in the Computer questions + subcategories of it. I had well over 900 valid answers supplied to the community, before I quit. I never came back - to this day, I never came back. After a while, in December of 2008, I decided I wanted to do something. I became an answers.com member. I was a very active member. I supplied over 2,000 answers to members, and well over 15,000 total site contributions. This was in 2008 only, in one month, before getting addicted to ROBLOX. One day, my friend, Micheal, told me about "ROBLOX." This was in December, 2008. I kept misspelling it, so I went back to a different game site: armorgames.com and what I found was an advertisement: "Join ROBLOX!" and so I joined it. I played ROBLOX from January 3rd, 2009 (as you may know, AndrewTooCool) up to February (day: unknown) 2011. In 2010, I had a good feeling I'd quit ROBLOX. I thought I did. I went back to answers.com (or wiki.answers.com) and requested I become a supervisor. They made me become part of the SPA, Special Project Assistant. In order to become a supervisor, I had to complete 25 tasks. Now, note, tasks took me up to a week to complete - in summer break. So that's 12 hours of work a day, with 7 days + to complete a task. Some days I didn't do the task, as I did something I still do not recall. I made a total of 5,376 answers, and 25,000 Contributions to the site during my stay, I only got 8 tasks done before I officially quit the site, in 2011 of January. I came back to ROBLOX, and AndrewTooCool was later deleted, and due to this, I was desperate for some type of new site. I can not handle a site where unfair deletions/bans can go into effect. I still searched in ROBLOX, as it was all I could do, so I just waited for good replies, then I saw "Buildism." and I went to the site. And in here, I contributed to my almost-fullest ability to help.

There you go. If you don't read, please don't say "too long." That's spam, and useless.

  Ducktales with lyrics! By breantfloss
Posted by: duh - 04-21-2011, 06:58 PM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Ducks
Yes Ducks in outer space
From the Disney Afternoon
To the moooooon...

Wait Uncle Scrooge, you need a suit out there!
How are you alive?
You need heat
(You need heat)
Also, air
(Also air)
That's gotta be one expensive cane
You are up on the moon, looking for treasure, you've gone insane

Ooohhh...
Crazy duck in space
Yeah, you're really greedy and youre old

You got a creepy Scottish accent dude,
and you bathe in gold!
Bathe in gold!!!

(That cant be good for you.)

This oughta be the ending credits theme
Its a soaring song, flying high like a dream
But it was used as a level tune
Underscoring the life of a retarded Mallard on the f***in moon

Ooohhh...
Crazy duck in space
Oh, I hope you keep me in the will
You could buy the moon and say
Put it on my bill

On my billll!!!!

Youre a duck, oh my god

Scrooge McDuck, you're on the moon!

bump!!
