Yes, that is an issue. It would be better if Apple didn't do that, but nonetheless it is a nice OS.

Apple designs all their products so that they're the only ones who can sell you the services for repair/new parts.
That way they can charge you whatever they want.
That's one of the reasons I hate them.

I've been saying this for years now. Apple is a bunch of restrictive idiots sitting around in an air-conditioned room thinking of new ways to charge their customers. Like EA, but on a somewhat smaller scale.
