  Your favorite movie
Posted by: BuildistGuard - 02-11-2011, 07:49 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (17)

What is your favorite movie in real life? Describe about the movie here and give a review for it. Here is my favorite movie below:

My favorite movie is Back to the future part 1.

Setting: Hill Valley, California.
Time: 1985, the same year my dad lived there.
Plot: Marty Mcfly is a teenager living with a bleak, unambitious family in October 1985.

Brick Fix transparentsy, pl0x?

Ohai, can you fix thensparentsy for in-game stuff and look.
For example, you want a character with no arms, but in-game, it blocks the torso. Maybe use layers for the in-game images?

Ohai, I'm new; What scripting language does this game run on?

Lua or Java, because I barely know some Lua, but Java is way out of my league.

  Some wiki info...
Posted by: InternetGuy - 02-11-2011, 12:58 AM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (4)

Me and qwertygiy are the only people on the wiki who aren't posting spam.
Please, make the wiki non-editable by all players.
You may remove me from the list, but every morning there's spam there, and luckily I saved a copy of the main page.
So I return it to normal.
This morning it said: "TROLOLOOL U HACKZ".
(Something like that)
But me and qwertygiy did a good job on it.
Even PM him, Jacob_.

Don't hotlink images from other games
Posted by: Jacob__mybb_import1 - 02-11-2011, 12:46 AM - Forum: News - Replies (2)

I've noticed some people linking to pictures from other online games (*cough* ROBLOX Wink ). That isn't a good idea, just save the pictures you want to use and upload them to a free host like TinyPic or Imageshack.

Resizing big images is slow, so keep the size down or resizing the window doesn't work smoothly.

How to get Textures for your place
Posted by: Qwertygiy - 02-10-2011, 10:30 PM - Forum: Tutorials and Guides - No Replies

This page in the wiki explains the first bit: getting the texture you want.

http://buildism.net/wiki/w/index.php?title=Textures

Copy the URL of the texture you choose.

Next, go to your place. Get the block you want, and insert a Texture. Select the Image of the Texture, clear it, and press Ctrl+V. Then press enter. It MAY show up the way you want, but you might need to adjust the size of the block for it to show up right. However, when you stretch a part, make sure you cut (scissors icon, or right-click + Cut) the texture after you resize it, and then paste (Ctrl + V again, right-click + Paste, or clipboard icon) it back in.

Properties of Textures:

  • ShowPart: If the texture is transparent, having this set to 'true' will let the part's color show in the transparent part.
  • TileX and TileY: If these are set to 'true', the texture will 'repeat' or be 'cut', depending on the size of the texture and the size of the part.
  • FlipX and FlipY: Setting these to 'true' will turn the part, respectively, backwards and upside down.

Textures will work in Boxes, Circles, Water, Seats, and Ladders. To set a background image or Terrain image, you must select World or Terrain and use the properties there.
  • Background images: The BackgroundImage property of the World provides the background image of the game. Paste in the URL like you would in a Texture. Or, you can clear the URL and just use a color if you wish.
If the ScaleBackground property is set to 'true', the image will resize to fit the screen. If it is set to 'false' it will 'repeat'.
  • Terrain texture: First, you must make your terrain. Once you have done so, find the Terrain object in the game. Paste your texture in the Image property and your terrain is textured. It will 'repeat' throughout the Terrain.
