  • Scripts inside tools no longer run unless the tool is owned by a player
  • Fixed a bug where old script threads wouldn't go away after the script finished
  • Added some new functions and properties for Vec2Ds

[lua]
vec2D.length
vec2D.normalized --returns a unit vector (divide by the length)
vec2D:add(vec2D)
vec2DConfusedub(vec2D)
vec2D:mul(vec2D) --multiply
vec2D:mul(number)
vec2D:div(vec2D) --divide
vec2D:div(number)
[/lua]

These functions return a copy, they do not change the original. For example, here is how to find the distance between two parts.

[lua]distance = part2.PositionConfusedub(part1.Position).length[/lua]

The Adventures of Noob Boy: Choose the Adventure
Posted by: Qwertygiy - 02-21-2011, 11:12 PM - Forum: Forum Games - Replies (11)

This is a fun type of game that, especially on such a small site as Buildism is right now, can be dragged out for weeks, at least, if played right. I will start the story, and post two (or three) options as to what could happen next. The next poster chooses one and continues the story, then posting two or three options, and so on.

Don't be afraid to use smileys, bold font, or 1337!

''THE ADVENTURES OF NOOB BOY''

One day, Nubzy McNoobers Noobzenhiemer NooBee, better known as Noob Boy, or just "NOOB ", was out having a nice day, enjoying the sunshine, and singing the theme song to his favorite TV show.
:|
Offkey.
Sad
With alternate lyrics.
:O
"Sky s0 blu3, tr33s of w00d, 1 r3ally r3ally n33d m04r c00k33z n40."
He was enjoying himself thouroughly. He looked over at his neighbors. Were they:

1: Turning the radio on full blast while vacuuming the lawn and humming as loudly as possible

Or

2: Running as fast as they could to get away

  Would this be considered?

Having multiple types of moderators (Image Mod,Report Mod,etc.) and hire certain people for the job to be those moderators.Like,Image Mods would keep people from uploading offensive skins, and report mods would be people who respond to reports.

Why not to suggest "Voice chat"
Posted by: BuildistGuard - 02-21-2011, 07:06 PM - Forum: 2DWorlds Discussion - Replies (9)

There are many reasons why not to suggest "Voice chat". Here are the reasons below why not to have Voice chat:

1. There could be many little kids screaming in the microphone.

2. They could make you go to bad websites.

3. They could curse at you in any language(e.g Spanish,Chinese,German,Japanese, etc.)

4.It would be almost impossible to moderate without a translator.

5. It would also be too expensive and could make Buildism go bankrupt.

  Next update: Stable Welds (hopefully)
Posted by: Jacob__mybb_import1 - 02-21-2011, 06:23 PM - Forum: 2DWorlds Discussion - Replies (1)

As you have probably noticed if you've played Destroy a Building with Rockets/Bombs, welds still don't work very well. The problem is that the physics engine uses an iterative solver: all of the parts and welds/hinges are simulated individually. This means that it's impossible for a normal weld to securely bind 2 parts together.

After the update, a group of parts welded together will be treated as one unit. This is going to take a lot of work to do because many parts of the game assume that each part is supposed to move individually; these will have to be rewritten.

The update will probably be out in a few days, and the "spazzing" we have now will be a thing of the past!
